Birth story of Rio

It was December 6, 2014 at 9:28 in the evening when I gave birth to my first born. We named him, Rio Isaac, which means river and laughter.

Luckily, I was able to document ‘every’ details of my labor on my instagram account (@soblessedmama). Maybe because I was anticipating I might forget most of it, or bago ako magkaroon ng “Momnesia”. Hehe! So let me share with you what exactly I wrote there. I will also add some of the things I remembered.

Here’s the story:

MY LABOR AND DELIVERY STORY
Before I forget everything and while it is still fresh, I want to document my labor and delivery story. It will be detailed (so TMI alert!).
The day before my delivery, my mom surprisingly arrived from HK (where she worked), just right in time for the big day (everything has a reason). That night, I’m starting to have some mild contractions/braxton hicks. I ignored it and went to sleep.

My mom looks younger than me here. Hehe
12.06.14

The next morning, I woke up around 7am feeling energized.

I was 38 weeks going to 39 weeks then.

9am, my husband and I went to supermarket to have some grocery shopping. When suddenly I felt abdominal pain, pinagpapawisan ako ng malamig na kinikilabutan. Haha!
10am, We got home and I went straight to the comfort room. napoopoo lang pala ako. hehe!
11am, I noticed some regular contractions mostly at my lower back area, but the pain was tolerable. So I monitored it for 30mins. Each contraction lasted for 60-70sec and 5 mins interval. I informed my OB right away. He replied and ask me if I have spotting, I said none. He told me to go to his clinic at 5pm.
12nn, I took a bath and had my lunch.
1pm, the pain became intense but still tolerable. I updated my OB then he instructed me to better go to hospital for initial assessment.
2pm, my mom, my husband and I arrived at VRPMC (hospital). Had my initial assesment. I was already 4cm. I was told to stay at the labor room. Then my OB called and said I’m going to be admitted. I’m in pain but I’m not nervous at all. In fact I’m more excited that finally I’ll be seeing my son very soon! yay!
4pm, they administer epidural (anesthesia) to me. whoah! guminhawa pakiramdam ko, felt some relief! The anesthesiologist told me I need to rest so I might have more energy for delivery. Eventhough I want to, but really can’t sleep. I was 6cm that time.

5pm, I was 7cm. Resident OB was checking on me time to time. They put nasal cannula on me for oxygenation and trying to wake my baby up. I have a feeling that there’s something happening wrong to my child.
6pm, I felt some pressure on my perineal area and anus (parang napoopoo). tolerable pa naman kaya ignore lang.
7:30, still in pain, another dose of epidural was administered.. Then Resident OBs manually broke my bag of water. I heard one doctor said, “thinly”.
8pm, my OB doctor, doc Sahagun arrived! Then he explained to me the condition of my baby. My baby’s heart rate is dropping and already defecated (pooped) inside my womb (I guess thinly is the medical term). Doc said they will observe me for an hour. Though he didn’t tell me, I know there will be a possibility for emergency cesarean. That was one of the scariest happened to me. I was so worried for my baby. I tried not to cry coz I need to supply more oxygen for him, but I can’t help it. Frustrated, scared and worried..I prayed. Suddenly God’s word reminded me that “He will never leave me and He’s in control of everything”… then there was peace in my heart.
9pm, resident OB checked on me, I was fully dilated. Thank God! Then, they transferred me immediately to Delivery room

.. I cannot move my lower extremities anymore, it took 4 men to lift me up to the delivery bed. Super bigat ko. he he!
during delivery:

I had a 3 push before my baby came out. But before the final push, I suddenly cannot breathe and became naseaous. They gave me gauze with water to my mouth to quench my thirst and dryness of my throat. Miraculously at exactly 9:28pm I was able to deliver my child normally. And I heard cord coil pa sya.

With my OB gyne Dr. Rhionell Sahagun

with his poop behind him

First photo with his papa, scared to hold him
All the hardships went away when I finally saw him. The first time I heard him cry was the sweetest sound in my ears. His body against mine was the warmest feeling ever. I cried with tears of joy and fell in love with his beauty… Ganun pala ang feeling… totoo pala ang Love at first sight.

After we transferred from recovery room to ward room

Love at first sight

Weighed 7 lbs. and 49 cm long

Burping session with papa

Rio underwent photo therapy due to jaundice. We stayed 4 days in the hospital to monitor him.

Finally, we can go home!

Rio’s 2nd Birthday Celebration at Tubigan Garden Resort

This December 6, our son will be turning two. Gusto namin mag-enjoy sya. As in pahirapan umahon. Haha!

Which is malapit lang sa place namin. Mukhang maganda din amenities nila. So I suggested dun na lang kami mag celebrate.

Here’s the map

Weekend entrance fee is 200 for both adult and child. Free naman ang two years old and below. At 160  for seniors/PWD.

Day time: 8am-5pm

Night time: 6pm-4am

Yung 4am-8am and 5pm-6pm maintainance time nila. So twice a day sila naglilinis.

Rate and Schedule

Picture muna with family

Kubo for 12 persons
Kubo with Room
They also have hotel

They have 4 pools:

•Waterpark

•Lazy River

•Pool Playground(New Attraction!)

•Jr. Olympic Size Pool

•Kiddie Pool

Other display and attractions:

Swimming time!

Wear proper swimming attire like swimsuit, rash guard or white top/shirt and garterized short.

Pool party was a success! Haha!

It was indeed a simple, intimate and yet meaningful celebration with our family.

Happy 2nd birthday to our baby loves Rio!
